More Than Meets The Eye?

just saw two movies with my wife, its been a while since we last went to the movies and we missed it

first we saw "The Taking Of Pelham 123" which was f*cking awesome! Travolta was a badass! Denzel was not the usual "all around hero" and John Turturro was a great addition to the cast.

after 2 weeks we saw the very controversial "Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen", Now being a huge transformers fan (huge is an understatement) i was very excited about this sequel. I had some issues with the first one like any true transformers fan would have, but it has been 2 years and i have forgiven Michael Bay and I was willing to give him another chance.

the sequel was 2 and a half hours long! typical Michael Bay (remember Bad Boys 2?).
it was visually entertaining, i remember reading somewhere that each Transformer was 4TB worth of data, so the graphic effects was very awesome.

story was OK, if you remember the first movie's ending, Optimus was calling the other Autobots hiding in deep space to come join them on Earth. You can also see Starscream leaving the planet to regroup since the mighty Megatron met his demise.

this movie starts with the Autobots and the humans joining forces to destroy remaining Decepticons. which takes me to my first complaint MORE ROBOTS, LESS HUMAN CHARACTERS!

it also mostly focused on Sam Witwicky and his love interest and his family. dont get me wrong, any camera time used in Megan Fox is worth the price of admission and his mom and dad are always funny. but come on! its a movie about transforming robots from a distant planet! NO ONE GIVES A FUCK ABOUT HUMANS AND THE ISSUES THAT THEY HAVE IN A TRANSFORMERS MOVIE! it was 2 1/2 hours long but i think they spent 1 1/2 hours on the humans, who cares if he goes to college? who cares about his roomate? show me Ironhide kicking Decepticon ass!

because they focused more on humans, people who watched the movie tend to ask "Who's That?" or "Is that a good guy or bad guy?" when seeing one of the new transformers in a scene because they were'nt introduced properly! if i was'nt a big nerd and did'nt research the new characters before watching i wouldnt have known who the fuck these new robots were.
so next time: INTRODUCE NEW CHARACTERS BEFORE HAVING THEM FIGHT EACH OTHER! its already hard to relate to big metal characters as it is. Michael Bay was able to do it the first time, im not sure why he did'nt do it this time.

being a huge nerd about Transformers i still enjoyed the movie, im still one of the few who hopes that there will be a third installment and is still sure that i will still watch it no matter what!
